Adoption Process

  • Fill out our preliminary adoption application
  • Bring your family with you to meet the dog or cat you’re looking to adopt into your family. We strongly encourage you to bring any other dogs in the household for a meet & greet as well, specifically if you’re adopting a dog or puppy
  • Landlord approval via phone or email is required if you’re renting
  • If adopting a dog under the age of 6 months, we require follow-up vet care which could include spay/neuter surgery depending on the breed. Please plan on returning to the Portland metropolitan area for a follow-up vet visit and/or alteration surgery with our veterinary clinic
Prior to applying for adoption, please read the description provided on who you’re applying for. The description will include any medical needs, behaviors (i.e. if they’re good with kids, other animals, etc.)
If we feel that you and the dog or cat are a good match, we will have you proceed with filling out our adoption application and our adoption contract, pay the adoption fee via cash or credit card, and hopefully take home your new fur baby the same day!

PUPPIES/KITTENS

On very rare occasions, some puppies and kittens are not spayed/neutered prior to adoption due to their age, weight, and/or breed. If this is the case, the spay/neuter appointment will be pre-scheduled and included in our adoption contract and will need to be a date that you can accommodate upon adoption. The alteration surgery is still included in our adoption fee. In this instance, we will require that you sign a spay/neuter contract agreeing to the alteration surgery. If the requirements of the contract are not met, we will consider this as a breach of contract and reserve the right to retain legal ownership of the animal and have it surrendered back into our care at the new owner’s expense. No adoption refunds will be provided for breach of contract.
